I’m in Quarantine

Well, the title says it. But let me give some context.

I graduated from my university at the end of 2019—right before the COVID-19 pandemic swept the world. After graduating, I applied to quite a few jobs and quickly got offered one as a cashier at a store. Of course, I didn’t get a degree with the intention of working in a store at all. However, I figured that I should take the job so that I would have some income as I searched for a better fit. Well, it feels like everything shut down almost right after I took the job. Everything except essential businesses, which included my store. I ended up sticking with the job longer than expected and earned a promotion along the way. Now that things are looking more optimistic in the world, I have been able to find some decent-looking jobs to apply to.

At the moment, though, I’m still working at a store, and that means me and my coworkers are constantly around numerous members of the general public. It’s a wonder to me that I worked for the store for more than a year without any real suspected exposure to COVID-19. My lack of suspected exposure changed yesterday, though, when I was informed that someone I worked with at length on Wednesday has tested positive for the virus.

I don’t want to give too many details about the situation because I don’t want people to be able to figure out the company I work for, but I believe that it is highly likely my coworker passed the virus on to me. And so does the store, because I’ve been ordered to quarantine. I do think that my personal safety precautions, along with my coworker’s safety precautions, may have prevented me from catching the virus, but the exposure was enough that I wouldn’t bet any money on it. Especially with all of the unknowns that still surround the virus. As of now, I have not had any symptoms or any feelings of unwellness at all. Of course, I know that this doesn’t mean much, but I’m more optimistic than pessimistic at this point.

I know this blog is about diapers, but I feel that my potential exposure transcends the need to stay on topic, at least for a short post. Plus, I figured writing about this situation would be a good opportunity for me to share some details about what I do other than write about diapers. My diaper lover life is intertwined with the rest of my life, after all. That’s why, during the original run of my blog, I shared some details about my summer job.

Anyway, another reason I thought it would be good to post this is because it relates to my plans for this blog. Now that I am going to be having more free time than usual during the next two weeks (at least), I am planning to use a good deal of that time to write blog posts and possibly make other improvements or additions to the blog. Although, beyond writing, I don’t have any specifics in mind yet. (Of course, these plans are based upon the hope that either I’m not sick or I don’t become too unwell to work on the blog.)

Thanks for reading my update and I hope you will return for my planned quarantine posts! In the meantime, please leave a comment if you have any topics you would like me to write about in the near future and please press the like button if you liked this update.
