I’d love to wear diapers as an alternative to shorts. Many of you probably would, too. But would that be a reasonable allowance to expect any friends, family, or society at large to make? In order to find out, let’s take a step back from our position as diaper enthusiasts and analyze diapers to figure out if wearing one is more like wearing an underwear-shorts combo or more like merely wearing regular underwear.
Diapers are like an underwear-shorts combo because:
- They’re often thicker than typical underwear and shorts combined.
- Most keep private parts well and safely out of view.
- They’re often hard to fit under shorts and pants.
- They’re quite close in skin coverage to short shorts.
Diapers are like regular underwear because:
- They’re designed and marketed to be underwear.
- Most people see them as underwear.
- Cloth-backed versions often have side panels transparent enough to show skin.
- Most reveal your present and past bladder and bowel elimination activities.
- Most are visually unappealing to non-ABDLs.
- They form only one layer of clothing.
Don’t worry. I’m not about to argue that because I’ve listed more points for one side of the argument, that side is the correct one. The list lengths are related to my thought process more than anything else; some points could probably be grouped together, and others have surely escaped my ponderings.
Also, there can and should be debate on the points above, such as on how strong or relevant each one is. For example, consider the point that most diapers are visually unappealing to non-ABDLs. Some people may say this point is relevant because we’re trying to figure out if wearing diapers as an alternative to shorts would be a reasonable thing for non-ABDLs to allow. If most people dislike how most diapers look, then diapers would be less like shorts and it would be less reasonable. On the other hand, some people may say this point is not relevant because most people accept that it shouldn’t matter if people like the way our clothing looks as long as we like it.
Moving on, though I’ve have a hard time deciding if diapers are more like an underwear-shorts combo or just underwear, I’ve made my decision. I think diapers are more like underwear. The points above about the see-through side panels and the revealing of bodily functions are strong enough to push me to this side. Shorts don’t do those things.
My decision is totally a personal opinion, though. I think opinion is what we all have to utilize to make our decision after taking a step back to find out the facts in a case like this, and that means the resulting decision is an opinion.
Maybe my opinion is rooted in fear of others’ reactions to diapers more than I realize. But, right now at least, I wonder if most of those who believe diapers are more like an underwear-shorts combo are stuck in wishful thinking. Sure, I wish they were more like an underwear-shorts combo. That would mean wearing diapers as an alternative to shorts is something people could realistically accept. But I’m fighting hard to keep that from affecting my decision here.
So, what do you think? Are diapers more like an underwear-shorts combo or more like underwear alone? Do you have any points you think I should add to either list? Please leave me a comment on this post to let me know! I’m open to having my opinion changed.
